Roy A. Gorton, Sr., 72, of 172 Central Street, died January 19, 2002, at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in Hampstead, NH on December 21, 1929, the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Clifford) Groton, Sr., and had been a resident of Manchester for over 25 years. He was a US Marine Veteran service during the Korean Conflict. Roy was a welder with Atlantic Grinding and Welding Company for many years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family members include his wife of 46 years, Peggy (Peters) Gorton of Manchester, two sons, Roy Gorton, Jr., of Pembroke and Douglas Gorton of Manchester, four daughters, Elizabeth Woodbury, Jodi Beland, Patti Demers and Tami Gorton, all of Manchester, 11 grandchildren. SERVICES: Relatives and friends are welcomed to a Memorial Reception for Mr. Gorton at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium Chapel, 243 Hanover Street, Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 o'clock with the services immediately following in the chapel at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in the NH State Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
