Ruby Brooks, 84, died at home August 10, 2010. She was born December 24, 1924 in Orleans, Vermont the son of Eveline (Turcotte) and Howard Charles Rice. She married Ross Brooks, and they adopted one child, Cheryl. Ruby spent her life as a homemaker and volunteered at Grafton County Nursing Home and St. Catherine Catholic Church in Lisbon. She loved to serve God, paint, fish, and help people. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Rich and her partner, Pam Thome, of Olympia, WA; brother, Ralph Rice and his wife, Betty, of St. Albans, Vermont; granddaughter, Tammy Rich McClelland, and her husband, Cory, and great-grandson, Gaige, of Olympia, WA; grandson, Phillip Rich and his children, Kaleb and Kalee, of Wenatchee, WA; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, and brother, Merrill Rice. Ruby had a faith in God and, though she will be sadly missed, she has gone home to join her God. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Diabetes Association, 132 Middle St., Manchester, NH 03101. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. Martel on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11 am at St. Catherine Catholic Church of Lisbon. Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Keller & Pillsbury Funeral Homes.
