LITTLETON, NH Ruby C. Chandler, 102, peacefully embraced heavens light and passed away on October 14, 2007 at her home.
Ruby was born at home in Bath, NH on January 15, 1905, a daughter to Harry and Mary J. (Cryans) Chellew. She was raised in Lisbon and talked of riding her horse to work.
Ruby worked in New York City for a period of time and had the opportunity to meet The Great Houdini. She was a homemaker most of her life and took great pride in her home and property. She lived on Auburn Street in Littleton for many years. Ruby loved animals, especially dogs; there were always one or two in her home. She also loved going to yard sales, which she did up to age 100.
Ruby was Littletons eldest citizen, being 102 years old. She received many certificates from various people, including Ronald and Nancy Regan, George and Laura Bush, Governor Lynch, and the Mayor of Rhode Island. She also has received many plaques from the town of Littleton.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Chandler of Littleton, NH; her granddaughter, Tandy and Derek Brown, their children Brayden, Calyn and Logan; her stepson, Raymond and Judy Chandler, Raymonds daughters, Rae-Jean and her husband, Bo Gross, and Laurie Chandler; her stepson Donald and Christine Chandler, their children Stephanie and Mark; also Donalds twin sons, Frankie and David, (David having predeceased Ruby); many nieces and nephews. Ruby is also survived by a few very close friends, Brenda Kimball, Ellie Opalinski, and close companion and nephew, Leonard Guglielmino. Ruby was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Julian Guglielmino in 1933. Also her most recent husband, with whom she lived most of her life, Philip R. Chandler who predeceased her in 1986; two sisters, and one brother.
SERVICES A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 25th at 3:00 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery.
