Russell M. Lord

Russell M. Lord, 70, of Goffstown, died at his residence on January 17, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Goffstown on January 7, 1941, the son of Melvin and Vivian (Woodin) Lord and had been a Goffstown resident for the past 32 years. He was a graduate of West High School and joined the Navy in 1958, where he served two tours of duty. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving aboard the USS Valley Forge and was also stationed at the Severn River Naval Command Center in Annapolis, MD. He was selected to serve as a member of the Color Guard at John F. Kennedy’s funeral. After his military career, he worked as chief electrician for Chicopee manufacturing for ten years and then was employed as a plant engineer for Carol Cable from 1975 to 1989. After that, he worked as a maintenance manager for Sweetheart Cup until 2001. He had been a master electrician for 29 years until he retired in 2003. He was a life member of the Alpine Club and enjoyed playing pool and bingo with his wife. He enjoyed his conure parrot, Tia and working around his home and garden. He also loved going on trips with his wife and family.

In His Life: Family members include his wife of 36 years, Diane (Gamache) Lord; three daughters, Donna DiFranco of Goffstown; Tammy Leclerc and her husband Steven of Goffstown; and Kerry Barbre and her husband Ryan of UT; two sons, Darryl Roche and his wife Nancy; and Troy Roche, all of VA; six grandchildren, Jeremy Schryba, Krysta Schryba, Tiffany DiFranco, Niki Barbre, Krislynn Barbre and Breauna Roche; two brothers, Bernard Lord and his wife Lorraine of Manchester and Timothy Lord and his wife Angela of Hooksett; three sisters, Linda Thompson, Suzanne Schou, and Trudy Lewandowski and her husband Al, all of Manchester; and nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers.

Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday morning at 10:00. Committal services, with naval military honors, will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
