Ruth L. Higgins

Ruth L. Higgins, 89, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Born on April 10, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Lars J. Heggem and Dagny F. (Nordby) Heggem.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Malcolm W. Higgins with whom she shared 68 years of marriage; along with her siblings Warren L Heggem and Dagny Heggem Fecht.

Ruth is survived by her sons; Michael Higgins and his spouse Nannette, Stephen Higgins and his spouse, Mary, her daughter; Lois Pecora and her spouse Wayne. She had 3 grandsons, Brian and Inna, Jason and Erin and Tommy and 4 greatgrandchildren, Ava, Zachary, Kayden and Harper Pecora.

Ruth was a school teacher for the East Granby, CT School District for several years. She greatly enjoyed working with kindergarten and 2^nd grade students.  She was a pianist, and had been in church choirs throughout high school and was a member of the Gordon College Choir.

Her family appreciated all the help and prayers from friends and family, especially her friends from Gethsemane Lutheran Church here in Manchester and the Hospice workers.  There will be a celebration of life service at her church in April, with details to be arranged at a later time.
