Salvatore Nick Santoro, Sr., 100, of Winter Park, FL, formerly of NH, passed away at his residence on May 7, 2023.
He was born in Somerville, MA on March 3, 1923, the son of the late John and Catherine (Marsicoveteri) Santoro and grew up in MA. He was a World War II United States Army Veteran and served in the 8th Army Air Corps where he was a tail gunner on the B24 Liberator. He earned six Bronze Stars. He joined the CCC earlier in his career. He worked in the automotive industry for many years. In addition to being a FL resident, he had resided in NH as well as CA. Salvatore was one of twelve children. He took up roller skating at age 16 and kept skating until he was 89. He also bowled until he was 96. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winter Haven, FL.
Family members include his wife Anna (Uslie) Santoro; a son, Salvatore Santoro, Jr. of CA; three daughters, Nancy Pelosi of OK, Cindy Wood of NV, and Ervel Santoro of AZ; two stepchildren, Valerie and Rickie; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two brother, Robert Santoro and Ronald Santoro; and nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A graveside service with military honors will take place at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH on Tuesday, May 23rd at 10 AM. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church 1991 Overlook Dr., Winter Haven, Florida 33884
