MANCHESTER, NH – Sandra (Sakorafas) Fay, 83, died on Thursday, August 9, at the Catholic Medical Center, in Manchester.
Mrs. Fay was born on September 18, 1928, in Manchester, NH, the daughter of the late George and Despo Sakorafas. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the laundry department at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, in Goffstown.
Mrs. Fay enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved playing Bingo with her sisters, playing cards, golf, and shopping.
Members of her family include; her husband of 59 years, Maurice "Mo" Fay, of Manchester; two sons, Glenn Fay and his wife Denise, of Manchester; Mark Fay and his wife Margaret, of Hooksett; four grandchildren, Tyler and Rachel Fay, of Hooksett and Stephanie and Keith Steckis, both of Manchester.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, August 13, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Andrew Mahalares, from St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral will officiate the service. Placement will take place at a later date at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, in Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 1 Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110, or to the Animal Rescue League of NH, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110, in memory of Mrs. Fay.
