Sandra Jeannine Lozeau of Deerfield, NH passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025 at the Inn at Deerfield at the age of 82, after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. Sandy was born December 29th, 1942 to Conrad and Rose Bellavance of Nashua NH, as the youngest of 12 children.
She graduated from Nashua High in 1960, followed by Hairdressing School, and worked as a hairdresser for a few years. Sandy joined the Nashua Ski Club with her friend Connie, where she met and fell in love with Connie's brother, Ken Lozeau, also a ski club member. Sandy and Ken were married in 1964, settled in Nashua and soon added a daughter and son, Martha and Jody. When Ken took a new job in 1973, the family moved to Exeter, where they lived for 30 years. While in Exeter, Sandy was very involved with St. Michael's parish, worked in reception at a Dental office, and kept busy with her active family.
Once her kids were grown, Sandy became a kindergarten teacher's aid at Exeter's Main Street School. The Lozeau family spent the winters skiing, many summer days at Jenness Beach, and the fall was for camping and hiking. Sandy began running in her 30's. She entered local 10K races and started placing in her age group. She loved running alone, in running groups, went to some running camps and even did some training with Joan Benoit-Samuelson, who won Gold in 1984, the first year the marathon was an Olympic event. Sandy qualified and ran in the Diet Pepsi National 10K championship race in NYC, and even ran the Boston Marathon in 1980.
When not outside, Sandy was usually at her sewing machine, making clothes for her family, banner flags and home decor for every holiday and season, and gifts for others. When Ken retired in 2003, Ken and Sandy moved to Littleton, NH where they could do all their outdoor activities a short drive from home. They hiked all the NH 4,000 footers, skied every day, made lots of friends and got very involved in the community. Sandy volunteered for NH Habitat for Humanity, Grafton County Chore Corps, Littleton Regional Hospital, and joined the Littleton Quilt Guild, and Littleton Regional Healthcare Auxillary. She and Ken were parishioners of St Rose of Lima parish.
Sandy's life was always full of activities and friends, but nothing made her more happy than being a Mémère to her 3 grandchildren, Emma, Hannah and David. She made clothes and teddy bears for them, baked for them, read to them, sang to them and rocked them to sleep. As they grew, she came to every ski race, soccer game, horse show, or chorus concert they were in, and Sandy and Ken never missed a musical or dance recital in the 15 years her granddaughters were performing.
Sandy had a family history of Alzheimer's, but she remained active, even as signs developed. Her wonderful north country friends were so supportive and kept her involved in activities she loved. When Sandy's beloved husband Ken died, in 2020, she was unable to live alone, so she moved to Langdon Place of Nashua, and eventually to The Inn at Deerfield, when more dedicated memory care was needed. She received excellent care at both places, and despite her advanced disease, Sandy was always kind, sweet and thankful to all. It was so comforting for Sandy's family, knowing that she was so loved by everyone, and never felt alone. She will leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her 2 children, Martha (Lozeau) and her husband Eric Benson, Jody Lozeau and his wife Ann, and three amazing grandchildren, Emma and Hannah Benson, and David Lozeau. She is also survived by her sisters Estelle Duncan, Shirley Gaudette, Suzanne Thibault and husband Al, and her brother Paul Bellavance and wife Delores, and many nieces and nephews.
