SHARON L. COUGHLIN, 84, recently of Sunapee Cove Assisted Living, Sunapee NH, passed away on January 7, 2026. Sharon was born on February 2, 1942, in Exeter, NH.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, John R. Coughlin ("Jack"). Sharon is survived by her children: daughter Maureen (David Elledge) of Hanahan, SC; daughter Veronica (Scott Harding) of Barnstead, NH; and daughter Paula (Craig Biathrow) of Meriden, NH.
Sharon was Nana to her two grandchildren: Joseph Harlow (Nicole) of Canaan, NH and Paige Harding of Barnstead, NH; and three great-grandchildren Christopher, Jenna, Keira.
Sharon grew up in Durham NH with her parents, three brothers and one sister, where she graduated from Oyster River High School.
As a teenager, she worked as a UNH phone switchboard operator with her Auntie Gladys. After marrying Jack (July 30, 1966), she worked at the Durham Trust Bank as a teller. She also worked several years at Birch Hill Elementary School as a "Lunch Lady" as her children were growing up. At Valley Homecenter in South Royalton, a business they owned in Vermont, she was the company's sole bookkeeper. After retiring from Valley Homecenter, she again worked as a teller at Norway Bank in Pittsfield, NH. Sharon enjoyed jobs which allowed her to be social and interact with others.
She spent many weekends on Huntress Pond (Pinkham Pond) Barnstead, NH as a young adult where she met her husband Jack through her brother. After marrying, Jack and Sharon lived in the Madbury, NH area and then raised their children in Nashua, NH. They built "Camp" on Huntress Pond in the late 60s. The family spent summers at Camp swimming, paddle boating and competitive bouts of badminton. While in the winter months, snowmobiles and sleds were used to trug luggage and coolers through the snow. Sharon drove snowmobiles, sledded and ice skated on the pond. After retiring from Valley Homecenter, Camp became their permanent home.
Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren and sitting on her waterfront property enjoying the sunshine and a good book. Sharon will be remembered for her happy and stubborn personality. She will be missed for many things and always for making one smile with her clever wit and smirk, just shy of mischievous.
Sharon will be laid to rest alongside her husband at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH at 11am on Tuesday, January 13th.
