Shashi Dixit, age 64 of Hudson, New Hampshire passed away February 14, 2010 after a prolonged bout with cancer. She left her material body surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband Bhushan, sons Puneet & Rohit and daughter-in-law Avani. She is survived by her sister Meera Singh and brothers Jeetendra and Narendra Purang, as well as numerous loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Dr. R. D. Purang and mother Sheela Purang in India and her 19 year old niece Shreya Dixit of Minnesota. 33 years ago, Shashi settled in the greater Boston area, and led a highly active life with her loving husband and sons. She earned a PhD in Sanskrit and taught at the prestigious Maharani Gayatri Devi Mavidyalaya. She conducted voluntary teaching of Sanskrit and Hindi in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and also worked part-time at Filene's and Macy's where she made many friends. She enjoyed cooking, and had great appreciation for art and music. Shashi was a devoted wife, committed mother, and a truly caring person. She had great impact on the lives of many. Words cannot describe our loss. She will be dearly missed. Traditional Hindu Services and Cremation: 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester followed by Holy Immersion in India.
