Shawn Egan, 63, of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Born on May 18, 1962, in Manchester to the late William J. Egan and Irene M. (Compagna) Egan, Shawn was a proud lifelong New Hampshire resident.
A graduate of Manchester Central High School, Class of 1980, Shawn was active in sports from an early age—playing Little League baseball, CYAA basketball, and eventually high school varsity baseball and football. His love of football began with Pop Warner, where his team traveled to South Carolina for a jamboree. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Bill, by proudly playing on the varsity football team at Central High.
After graduation, he pursued his dreams at Michigan State University, later continuing his studies at Florida State University and the University of New Hampshire. Following college, he returned to Manchester where he met the love of his life, Lisa and they began building a beautiful life together.
Professionally, Shawn worked in information technology, earning multiple certifications and serving as a computer technician at Liberty Mutual for 15 years. Prior to that, he worked in the same field at Smith & Nephew.
Shawn was a man of many passions: a die-hard Boston Bruins fan and a proud co-founder of a 30+ year Fantasy Football league filled with close friends and family. He loved to fish, was an avid reader, a poet at heart, a music lover of many genres, and a weather enthusiast. He was an excellent cook and a true grill master.
But most of all, Shawn cherished his role as a husband and father. He was the proudest “girl dad,” never missing a recital or competition and participating with joy in the annual “dad dance.” His deep love, patience, and playful spirit shone brightest when he was with his girls.
Shawn had a gift for making people laugh, whether with his classic dad jokes, his eccentric fashion pranks, or his spontaneous kitchen creations. He was a rescuer of stray cats, a savior of dragonflies, and a comforting presence to the people and animals who loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Lisa Egan, and their two daughters, Kaitlyn and Haley. He also leaves behind his brothers: Brian Egan and his wife Sandy of Candia, NH; Keith Egan of Manchester, NH; and Glenn Egan and his wife Lee of Manchester, NH. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Patrick Egan, Shannon Egan, Kasey Boschi, and Brendan Boschi; his sister-in-law Kim McCallion and her husband Jeff of Manchester, NH; and many extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 PM at St. Peter’s Church, 567 Manchester Road, Auburn, NH. Burial will be scheduled at a later date. All who knew and loved Shawn are warmly invited to attend.
Shawn lived a life full of joy, compassion, humor, and boundless love. His presence was a gift to all who knew him.
As Lisa lovingly shared:
"Shawn, you have been my home for 28 years. My partner, my best friend, my heart. Thank you for the most precious gift of our daughters and for filling our lives with so much love and laughter. I will forever carry you with me, in every memory, every quiet moment, every sign from above. You are and always will be the love of my life."
Rest peacefully, Shawn. You are deeply missed and forever cherished.
