Sheila Bento, 83, of Litchfield, NH, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rhode Island on July 7, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Matilda (Guckian) Dunphy. She shared 60 years of marriage with her husband, Richard Bento Sr.

Sheila was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from West High School in Pawtucket in 1959. Her Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. While she made her home in New Hampshire for many years, she always felt a strong connection to Rhode Island and delighted in spending summers at her beach house with her family. Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family above all else.

In addition to her parents, Sheila was pre-deceased by her youngest son, Craig Bento and her brother, Edward Dunphy.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard Bento Sr. of Litchfield, NH; her daughter, Traci O’Malley and her husband Thomas of Peterborough, NH; her son, Richard Bento Jr. and his wife Tina of Manchester, NH; her sister, Maureen Knabe of Illinois; her seven grandchildren, Erin Davis and her partner Sean, Kailey Bento and her partner Josh, Connor Davis, Cameron Bento and his partner Bertha, Michael O’Malley and his wife Hailey, Caislin Bento, and Shannon O’Malley; six great-grandchildren, Arianna, Maeson, Sawyer, Magnolia, Parker, and Ana; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026. Visitation will take place from 8AM-9:30AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Ste. Marie Parish, 378 Notre Dame Avenue, Manchester, NH. She will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH.
