Shirley V. (Zeno) Amidon, 77, of Putney, VT passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Starksboro, VT on July 4, 1935, the daughter of the late George and Mabel Lizzie (Zeno) Thirsher.
Shirley has been a Putney resident for 43 years, previously residing in Spofford, NH. She was employed at Book Press in Brattleboro for thirteen years, and then worked independently as a housekeeper. She enjoyed horseback riding, cooking, snowmobiling, boating, riding motorcycles and tending to her vegetable garden. Shirley took great pride in her home and enjoyed maintaining it. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family. She loved spending time with them, and never missed a family get together.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Francis L. Amidon in 2011; two sons, Randy and Ricky Davis; their father, Kenneth Davis; a brother, Richard Thirsher, and two sisters, Iona Moody and Beverly Thomas, and two step children, Dennis Amidon and Donna (Amidon) Broxson.
She is survived by a son, David Davis and his girlfriend Debbie Goldman of Putney; a sister, Georgia Boyd of Westminster, VT; a brother, Edward Thirsher of Vernon, VT; three grandchildren, Randy Davis and his wife Jessie, Tara Davis, and Laura Davis all of Bennington, VT; as well as many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11am at The West Brattleboro Baptist Church, 971 Western Ave., W. Brattleboro, VT 05301. Burial will follow at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in W. Brattleboro. Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT 05301 is assisting the family with arrangements.
