Shirley Blanchard

Shirley “Mae” Curtis Blanchard, 91, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Brattleboro, VT on Friday, December 10, 2021. She was born on May 5, 1930, in Claremont NH, to the late Josiah and Edith (Wellman) Curtis. On August 25, 1948 she married the love of her life, Wilfred Blanchard in Ascutney VT.

Shirley loved The Red Sox, her family and spending time with her good friends at the Red Clover Commons. Shirley especially loved spending summers at the Curtis Family Homestead where she could spend time with her entire family, to many she was so much more than just a Grammy, Aunt, Sister, Mother, Wife, GG, Cousin or friend. She was an excellent example of love, support, and encouragement. She was someone many turned to as a mentor and confidante. She was quick witted and could take a good joke as well as she could hand one out. We will miss her dearly and continue to sing her songs in the car and cherish every moment that God allowed her in our lives.

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilfred in 1993 and her daughter Edie Manley in 2011. She is survived by her son Will Blanchard and his wife Jan, her daughter Shirma Blanchard and her partner Kevin Dierks, and her son-in-law Bill Manley as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Shirley will be held at Ker Phaneuf Funeral Home, 57 High Street, Brattleboro on Thursday, December 16th from 4 to 7pm. A graveside service will take place at Meeting House Hill Cemetery on December 17th at 2pm. Ker Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium have been entrusted with arrangements.
