Shirley C. (Chilton) Frank, 81, of 65 Victoria Street, died November 21, 2005 at Catholic Medical Center. She was born in Manchester, on February 20, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Marie (Champagne) Chilton and had been a lifelong resident of the City. She was a direct decendents of Mary Chilton, one of the passangers on the Mayflower. She was a graduate of West High School. She was a United States Navy Veteran and served as a nurses aide at the Brooklyn, NY Navy Hospital during World II. She was a well known business women in the city and was the former owner of Shirleys Styling Salon and Shirleys School of Cosmetology. She has been the President of the Hairdressers Association of New Hampshire. She was very active in politics and was the Past President of the New Hampshire Republican Womens Federation. She was the past Chairman of the Ward 1 Republican Committee, past Chairman of the Manchester Republican Committee, past Chairman of the Manchester Concerned Taxpayers and the Past President of the Greater Manchester Federated Republican Women. Currently, she was on the Board of Directors of Winning Women, Vesta Roy Series. She was also the current President of the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women. She was a recipient of the Belle Duperron Award for Outstanding Republican and the recipient of the Manchester Norris Cotton Award. In Her Life: Family members include her son, Charles Frank and his wife, Marie of Bedford and three grandchildren whom she adored and loved spending time with, Chelsea, Brittany and Spencer Frank, all of Bedford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in St. Catherine Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shirley Chilton Frank West High School Scholarship Fund, C/O Citizens Bank, 875 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101. This fund has been set up by her family to provide financial assistance for students of West High School to attend college.
