She was born on March 2, 1946 in Littleton, NH to Raymond and Thelma (Whitney) Bushway. She attended the St. Rose Catholic School and Littleton High School.
Shortly after graduation she married and lived in Vermont for a few years, before returning to Littleton with her two small children. She married her second husband Vincent J. Place on January 26, 1979.
Over the years she held several jobs including cashier at Ruggles Supermarket, waitress at the Littleton Diner and the Eastgate, Avon representative, and as a caregiver and housekeeper for many local families. She created beautiful dried flower arrangements, painted bell ornaments, and other crafts and sold them at craft fairs for many years.
Together with their children, Shirl and Vin cleared the land and built a log home in Easton, NH and owned and operated several companies, including Home Glass and Gingerbread Gift Shop. They loved to travel in their RV and spent a few winters in Florida and Texas.
She enjoyed family get-togethers, reunions and pot lucks, and could always be found looking for treasures at yard sales and second-hand shops. She loved taking pictures and putting them in albums for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook famous for her zucchini relish, bread pudding, and peanut butter and oatmeal raisin cookies.
She is predeceased by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 37 years Vincent Place of Easton, NH, her daughter Tina Lemire and son Richard Place (Kariann) of Littleton, NH, her step-children Susan (Lynn) Tomasetti of Hooksett, NH, Jon (Floraine) Place of Easton, NH, Raymond (Jerilynn) Place of Florida, Peter Place of Hooksett, NH and Karen (Mike) Place of Maryland.
