We are heartbroken to announce that Shirley Jane (Woodrow) Silver of Penacook, NH passed away at her home on August 15th, 2024 at the age of 89 after a 5 year long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Her strength at fighting this disease came to an end as she did everything she possible could to have more time with those she loved so much… We can’t say enough to praise all of the nurses/aides/staff at the Payson Cancer center as well as all the Granite VNA/Hospice assistance afforded us here at home in her last days. They are certainly the angels in this life.
She was born in Colebrook, NH on October 26, 1934 the only child of the late Lyndon and Myra (Munn) Woodrow. The family moved to Plymouth, NH where she graduated from Plymouth High School and went onto graduate from New England Deconess with her RN Degree then UNH for her Masters.
She had 3 wonderful loves in her life, all who predeceased her. She married the father of her 3 children, William G. Silver on July 7th, 1956, Seth S. O’Shea on March 22, 1972, and found her final love with Fred T. Wolf.
Mom’s career included nursing for years at various hospitals in Massachusetts including Mass General, Beth Israel, Quincy City, South Shore as well as many others.
She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Concord, was Director of Nurses at Havenwood, and retired from the State of NH Heath and Human Services Department. She continued keeping herself busy doing mortgage signings for various notary companies.
Mom loved to travel, and her interests included sewing, interior and landscape design, reading, watching General Hospital and Hallmark movies on her porch while drinking her Tito’s Martinis, planning parties and enjoying getting together with her many friends.
She also LOVED having the neighbors over to watch football… her teams, Patriots or Chiefs – especially Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes!
She most loved her ‘Goldens’… Sam and Josie, and her Teddy.
She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses Lyn Monticone and her husband Steve, Bill Silver and his wife Mary, Scott Silver and his wife Leah.
Grandchildren, Stephanie Rodriguez and her husband Felipe, Julia Silver and her fiancé Rob, Lyndon Silver and Lily Silver
Her oldest grandchild Michelle Monticone passed away in October of 2020 but is survived by her love, Greg Wombolt.
Great Grandchildren, Castiel Rodriguez and Lakota Rodriguez
In her own words: “My life has been an interesting and happy adventure and I have few regrets. My mother and my Grandmother Woodrow were my favorite people and they proceeded to spoil me during a period of time when hard labor was the norm and the less that people expected, the less they were disappointed. I grew to expect a lot from life and therein was disappointed at times. My three children are the joy of my life and I am so proud of them.”
Mom, we love you and are going to miss you so much. You were the center of all our worlds.
Till we see you again… ❤️💔❤️
