Sophia T. (Tziavas) Dimos, 79, of Manchester, died September 29, 2003 at the Hospice House in Concord following a courageous battle with cancer. Prior to her stay at the Hospice House, she was cared for by her family, friends and the VNA. She was born in Eptahorion, Greece on May 28, 1924, the daughter of Vasilos and Aglia (Koutsonis) Tziavas. Along with her husband, she migrated to America in 1950 seeking a better life for her two sons. She and her family moved to Manchester in 1959 from Detroit, MI. She had worked for a number of years at Pandora Industries prior to her retirement. She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Anagennesis Ladies Society, Tri-Ortho Ladies Group, Pan-Macedonia Association and the Epahorion Ladies Society. She enjoyed bowling in the Ladies Church League. In 1998, she was honored to receive the Clergy-Laity Award for Lifetime Achievement from St. George Cathedral. She always beamed a loving smile when she spoke of her grandchildren. She was a proud lady of the traditional ways. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her life revolved around her family, friends and church group. One of her most inspiring moments was when she traveled to the Holy Land to visit all the religious sites. She was the widow of John T. Dimos who passed away in 1983. She is survived by two sons, Harry Dimos of Manchester and Mr. and Mrs. Zoes Dimos of Bedford; five grandchildren, John T. Dimos of Princeton, NJ, Michael T. Dimos of Manchester, James T. Dimos of Manchester. John Z. Dimos of Bedford and Sophia V. Dimos of Bedford; her brother, Spiros Tziavas of Greece; a sister, Yiannoula Garos of Greece; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Wednesday from 4 to 9 PM. The Trisageon service will take place on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
