Starlene Piroso, 62, of Canterbury passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 following a period of declining health.
Star was born in Concord, NH May 13, 1954 to the late Ernest McDonald and Esther (Brown) Glennon. She graduated from Bishop Brady High School. Star met David Piroso and the two were married in 1982. They started their family shortly after and moved to Canterbury in 1983, where they have lived for the past 33 years. Star worked at Concord Savings Bank for a number of years, then moved on to Behavioral Health Network. She eventually took a job in Customer Service and Admissions with Riverbend and remained a part of their team until shortly before her passing.
Star deeply enjoyed the feel of her toes in the sand and the sound crashing waves, taking countless family trips to Short Sands in York, Maine, always taking time to stop at The Goldenrod to watch the taffy pulling and pick up a few sweet treats. She was a dance major in college and had a short stint twirling fire batons. She never lost her love of music and was always the first one up on the dance floor and the last one to leave it. Described as a modern-day saint, Star was well-loved by all who knew her. She was on one of the most patient, caring and generous people you could meet.
Star was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, David Piroso, on April 22, 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Heidi Piroso and long-time boyfriend, Nick Petralia; and her son, Michael Piroso, wife, Kali of Canterbury and their daughter, Alexandria. She was also predeceased by her sister, Ernestine Bushey.
Family and friends are invited to gather Thursday, August 25th 4:00-5:00pm at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King Street in Boscawen. A memorial service will begin at 5:00pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Star's memory may be made to Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements.
