Stephen W. Szkutnik Manchester, NH Age 85 of Manchester, died Friday December 16th after a short illness. He was born in Manchester, NH. On March 23, 1920, to Alexandra and Ignacz Szkutnik and was a life long resident of the city. He graduated from Central High in 1938. He was a member of the New Hampshire National Guard from 1939 until his retirement as Master Sergeant in 1969. He served his country on active duty with the 172nd. Field Artillery Battalion in central Europe from 1941 to 1945. He fought in the Rhineland Campaign and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism. After World War II, he was employed by Keller Products as Head of Research and Development for over 50 years. In the fall of 1954 he supervised the building of the WMTW TV Channel 8 facility at the top of Mt. Washington with panels designed by Keller Products. He was a member of the Washington Lodge of Masons from 1952 until his death and was a past Commander. He was a member of the Brookside Congregational Church and served on the board of Trustees and Deacons. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed woodworking, golf, gardening, and traveling. His is survived by his wife of 63 years, Verna (Campbell) of Manchester. Daughter Susan MacDuff and her husband William of Peterborough. Sister Helen Geoffrion of Bothell, WA. One Grandson, several nieces and a nephew also survive him. There will be no services or calling hours.
