It was here that Steve was able to pursue activities that were important to him such as volunteering at a feline shelter and a wildlife center that rescued, rehabilitated, and released all manner of wild creatures which was a rewarding pastime for many years. In Florida, Steve was an avid puzzle solver, reader, and gardener of flowers and heirloom tomatoes. He continued his habit of walking, hiking, and kayaking, at times encountering a manatee along the way.
