Susan E. Hayward (Mumma, Mom, Grandma Sue, Soozie) of Manchester, NH passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2025.

Born Susan Elaine Mullaney on August 6, 1959 in the Town of Tonawanda, NY, to her Loving parents and adoring siblings, she was the joy of her family. Growing up in the Buffalo, NY area she graduated with the class of 1977 from Amherst Central High School before moving to Florida, and eventually settling down in Manchester, NH to raise her own family.

As property manager and resident of Wellington Terrace for over 18 years, Soozie was the heart of the community (and the neighborhood-wide water fights every summer). She was generous in spirit and in the kitchen, a trait she passed down to both of her children at an early age, making sure there was plenty for anyone that would stop by. Her rye bread boat or baked stuffed potatoes were legendary and drew crowds every holiday or get together. She enjoyed good food, good drinks, and a good time and she would always encourage those around her to do the same.

Known for her intelligence and remarkable storytelling ability, Soozie had a unique talent for injecting humor into every conversation and her wit was unmatched. She could make anyone laugh, oftentimes when laughter was needed most. She was multifaceted and these qualities shone brightly regardless of what phase of her life she was in.

Susan is predeceased by her beloved parents Vincent E. Mullaney and Lois M. Mullaney (Day), Her brother James D. Mullaney (Eileen), and her dear niece Ann C. Harris. She is survived by her son Shane V. Hayward (Leidy), daughter Christine D. Hayward (Joel), sister Linda A. Harris (Mullaney), Niece Jean E. Harris, Nephew Mike A. Harris, extended family, and countless friends she has made along the way.

Soozie leaves behind a community that will deeply miss her larger-than-life presence, irrepressible laughter, and heartfelt stories. She will live on in the memories and hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Susan's Life will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH on Saturday, January 17 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a private burial service in Batavia, NY at a later date.
