Theodore (Ted) D. Mahoney, devoted father, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 7, 1940 to the late Peter Mahoney and Bernice (Delosh) Mahoney. Ted was born in Syracuse, NY and called New Hampshire home the better part of 50 years. Ted lived a unique and remarkable life, shaped by experiences gathered from all over the world. With quiet strength and devotion, he always made sure his family was cared for. His knowledge of life, and his unwavering faith was shared generously. Always guiding and supporting us, and those he met, in both a gentle and profound way.
Ted lived a life of service, first in the Marine Corps, then the FBI, as Police Commissioner for the City of Portsmouth, NH, and as a member in the Third Order of Saint Dominic. But when people asked what he did, as they often do of people of a certain age, he would say, “a little of this and that.”
Though quiet in demeanor, his mind was always alive - thinking of new ways to help those he loved, crafting stories that sparked laughter, and finding meaning in the simple moments. His greatest pride was his wife and his three children, who were at the heart of everything he did.
Ted joins his loving wife of 54 years, Donna. He leaves behind his daughter, Colleen Mahoney-Baxter and her husband Eric; son Ted Mahoney and his husband Javier; daughter Erin Mahoney and her wife Amy. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Patrick Mahoney and Frank Mahoney.
Simple yet complex, steadfast yet imaginative, Ted leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, laughter, and a life with purpose. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
