Theresa M. Clothey
FRANCONIA, NH â Theresa âTerriâ Clothey, age 59 formerly of Whitefield, NH died on Dec. 22, 2010 at the Lafayette Genesis Center in Franconia, with family and friends by her bed side.
Born in Salem, MA, Terri was the wife of the late James Clothey of Whitefield, NH. She was the daughter of Irene (Lynch) Marchand and the late Hector âChubbyâ Marchand. She attended Salem schools and received her nursing certificate from Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing in Boston. Terri held various nursing and medical administrative positions in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, her more recent position with Morrison Nursing Home of Whitefield, NH.
The owner and co-proprietor of âA Different Pathâ, a Native American jewelry, fine arts, music and artifacts business located in Littleton, Terri with husband Jim, had met many customers who were interested in Indian culture. Through Pow Wows and re-enactments, Terri and Jim were able to share their knowledge of the rich culture of our countryâs indigenous peoples, making new friends from around the globe. Although hampered by her illness with MS, Terri always surrounded herself with Indian artifacts and music. A print âWise Spirit and the Ashâ, created by Michael Eastman, depicting Terri of her basket weaving craftsmanship, was always hanging on the wall in her room at the Lafayette Center. Terri, having been a resident at the Lafayette Center for the past four years, had developed long term friendships with the Centerâs staff. Their service and dedication for all of the Lafayette patients is exemplary to all long-term care facilities in the Northeast.
In addition to her mother Irene, Terri is survived by one brother, Hector Marchand and his wife Colette of Upland, CA; also the late John Marchand of Salem, MA; two sisters, Luanne Anzivino and her husband Peter of Holliston, MA and Louise Fields of Peabody, MA; two nephews, David Marchand of Upland, CA and Brent Marchand of North Andover, MA.
SERVICES -- Per Terriâs wishes, her private memorial service was held with family in Massachusetts. An Indian cultural spring/summer gathering to celebrate her life will take place in 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Genesis Center, C/O Carole Bogut, Activities Fund, 93 Main Street, Franconia, NH. 03580.
