Theresea Belanger, 66, of Portsmouth, NH, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2025. Her sudden passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Born on September 17, 1958, to Sydney and Marjorie (Kelley) Borges, Theresea was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She grew up in New Hampshire and graduated from Timberlane High School before proudly serving her country in the United States Army. She was stationed in Germany with B Company, 26th Signal Battalion, where she served with honor and dedication.
In 1990, Theresea married the love of her life, George Belanger. That same year, they welcomed their son, Marc, followed by their daughter, Amy, in 1994. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and supporting them in every endeavor.
Her life was marked by compassion and selflessness. When her father fell ill, she moved her family to Florida to care for him. Her brother soon came to live with them for decades, and after he sustained a spinal injury in an accident, Theresea became his primary caregiver—yet another example of the depth of her love and dedication to family.
Theresea had a warm and generous spirit. She could not stop herself from helping people, no matter the cause. She made sure that Marc and Amy could participate in their many after school activities and that eventually grew to include many of their friends. Her home was always a place you could get help, no matter who you were or how little she had.
In quieter moments, she enjoyed reading and playing online games like Candy Crush, Farmville, and in later years Pokémon Go, often alongside George, sharing small joys in everyday life.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, George Belanger; her son, Marc Belanger and his wife, Heather; her daughter, Amy Belanger; her sister, Margie O’Brien and husband Bob; and many cherished brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her compassion, humor, and generosity. Theresea was predeceased by her brothers Johnny her constant companion, and Stephan.
Theresea’s life was a beautiful example of love in action. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, July 10th at 11:30am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Funeral Service will begin at 12:45 in the funeral home chapel. Following the service, Theresea will be laid to rest with Military Honors at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
