Thomas R. Aitchison, 58, of 43 Snow Rd, Goffstown, died July 11, 2001 at Catholic Medical Center. He was born in Chicago, IL on February 15, 1943, the son of Donald and Emily (Kenitz) Aitchison and had been a Goffstown resident of the past thirty-five years. He was a twenty year Coast Guard Veteran and retired as a Lieutenant. During his military career, he served in Vietnam and had also headed the Captain of Port Office in San Juan, Puerto Rico for which he was awarded the Coast Guard Accommodation Medal. While in the Coast Guard, he married his wife who was also in the Guard. Their wedding was the first all Coast Guard marriage since World War II. He earned a BS degree in Computer Science from New Hampshire College and a MS degree in computer information systems from Rivier College. He was currently a Professor at Franklin Pierce College and New Hampshire Community Technical College, where he taught computer science, math and electronics. He was a member of the IEEE and the Coast Guard Warrant Officers Association. Family members include his wife of 36 years, Anne (Kelly) Aitchison; two daughters, Christine Mattaini of Manchester and Catherine Clamp of Imperial Beach, CA; one grandchild; a brother, Donald Aitchison of Loveland, CO; a sister, Alice Nicewarner of La Jolla, IL; and nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday evening at 8:00. Burial with military honors will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Monday morning at 9:00.
