Thomas R. Henry, 69, of 293 Candia Road, died May 15, 2004 at the Elliot Hospital. He was born in New York City on January 15, 1935, the son of Thomas and Helene (Patton) Henry and had been a Manchester resident for the past 28 years. He had been a professional baseball player with the minor league teams of the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds. He played from Eufaula, AL to Bakersfield, CA and also played in the Mexican and Canadian leagues. After that, he had been newspaper pressman, working for the Washington Post and the Boston Globe until his retirement. He was an avid fan of music, old movies, reading and discussing politics. Family members include his wife of 41 years, Kay (Davis) Henry; two sons, Jay Henry of Richmond and William Henry of Candia; a daughter, Wendy Henry of Manchester; seven grandchildren; a brother, Donald C. Henry of Clemmons, NC; two sisters, Gail Ballan of Long Island, NY and Wendy Garvey of New Port Ritchie, FL; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. In His Life: He enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Patrick, Maria, Briget, Therese, Brendan and Isabelle and with his only daughter-in-law, Jeanette. A memorial gathering will take place a Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Monday evening from 6 to 7 PM with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel and 7:00.
