Thomas J. Moore, Jr., 81 of Jamaica, VT and Mesa, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Danbury, CT on July 5, 1933, the son of the late Thomas J. and Anne (Leahy) Moore, Sr.
Thomas was educated in the Danbury school system, graduating from Danbury High School, Class of 1953. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for Local 39, Sheet Metal Workers Union. Thomas was a very talented master craftsman. He made tin ware, built his home in Jamaica, VT, and could fix anything. He loved tinkering in the yard, was proud to be a union man and was an avid NASCAR fan. He and his wife Marion spent summers in VT and winters in AZ.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Moore of VT and AZ; three children, Cynthia A. Sheets of Queen Creek, AZ, Thomas J. Moore III and his wife Mary of Chandler, AZ, and Colleen M. St. Hilaire of Maple Shade, NJ; two step-children, Cynthia A. Dewey and her husband Bill of Wappingers Falls, NY and Donald W. Peters and his wife Mary of Anthem, AZ; a brother, Jack Moore and his Teri of Sandy Hook,CT; ten grandchildren, Heather Bishop, David Hadad, Michelle Moore, Kristoffer Valerio, Kyrstin Mc Crystal, Danny, Dana, and Jack Peters, and Michael and Michelle Dewey; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Moore and Charlee Bishop.
There will be no service. The Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Thomas's name to Jamaica Volunteer Fire & Rescue, PO Box 285, Jamaica, VT 05343.
