Thomas Joseph O'Loughlin III

June 3, 1958 — September 15, 2024

Bedford, NH and Stonington, CT

Thomas Joseph O’Loughlin III, 66, of Bedford, NH, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Nashua on June 3, 1958, he was a son of the late Thomas J. O’Loughlin Jr. and Jeanne (Demers) O’Loughlin. He shared 42 years of marriage with his wife, Trish (Wolcott) O’Loughlin.

Tom was raised in Hudson, NH and was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Guertin High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in 1980 from St. Anselm College, where he and Trish met on a ski trip. Tom and Trish settled in Bedford where they raised their two children, Lauren and Trevor. Tom had a 43 year career working at Market Basket serving as store director in Warner, Bedford, and then Hudson, until his retirement in 2020.

Tom adored his family beyond measure and he and Trish enjoyed time with their children, family, and friends at their second home in Stonington, CT. He loved taking scenic rides with Trish in his Corvette, and rides in his Jeep to get coffee and a donut for his dog, Charlie. Tom and Trish had a passion for traveling, especially to the Caribbean with their friends. Tom loved to play golf and was a member of the Weekapaug Golf Club in Westerly, RI. Always happy to play with golfers of all skill levels, he was quick to encourage his golfing partners to “just get it back to the fairway.”

Tom is survived by the love of his life, Trish O’Loughlin of Bedford, NH; his daughter, Lauren Lyons, her husband Alex, and their daughter Maggie of Stonington, CT; his son, Trevor, his wife Sarah, and their son Charles Thomas O’Loughlin due in January, of New Boston, NH.

Tom is also survived by his sister, Amy Choroszy and her husband John of Wells, ME; his brother, Matthew O’Loughlin and his wife Ellen of Barnstable, MA; his sister-in-law, Pamela Cerne and her husband Matthew of Wayland, MA; and nieces and nephews Nathan O’Loughlin and his wife Danielle, Brigid O’Loughlin and her husband Brett O’Neil, and James O’Loughlin; Oliver, Andrew, and Lily Cerne; and a great-niece, Lilah O’Loughlin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Deborah O’Loughlin.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, September 26th from 4PM-7PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Riverbend Cemetery in Westerly, RI.
