On Friday March 22, 2025, the Lord told his son, Tary "Bishop" Mitchell, that the struggle was over and that it was time to come home. Bishop was born on October 9, 1975 to the Late Tary Reese and the Late Ellen Mitchell Todman. Tary grew up in Montclair, NJ with his Grandparent and his siblings.
While living in Montclair, Tary attended Mt. Hebron School where he played on the JV and Varsity Football teams. As he journeyed through life, his path led him to Brattleboro, VT where he met his life long partner Ann Larson. During his time in Brattleboro, he worked as a Head Chef at Retreat Meadows. Later, he worked at the one job that brought him the most joy, being a coach for the Brattleboro Union High School Football team.
Tary accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church in Montclair, NJ. After moving to Brattleboro, He began attending Agape Christian Fellowship.
Tary will always be known and remembered for his funny personality, his big heart, and his love for his community.
Tary was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Mitchell Todman, his father Tary Reese, his grandmother Mary Allen and his granddaughter Lily Roberson. Tary leaves behind his most cherished memories with his girlfriend of 12 years, Ann Larson. His presence will be most missed by his children, Tatiahna Mitchell, Cearia Scipio, Destiny Dorsey and Jordan dorsey. Being the oldest brother he leaves behind lifelong bonds to his brothers, Tyron W. Reese and Darrell (fly boy Mystro) Miller along with his sisters, Tia (Terrell) Arnold and Glynis Todman. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews; Jasmine, Cierra, Nyoke, Courtney, Jaylyn, Kayte, Ashante, Tayvon, Taniya, and Anniya. Bishop leaves behind two aunts Carolyn and Janice and a host of cousins and friends. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 5 pm on Friday, March 28th with a Celebration of Life to follow.
