Tzannetos "JT" Tavoularis, a cherished member of the Manchester community, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on April 25, 2024. Born on October 2, 1936 in Greece, JT's early years were spent absorbing the rich cultures of Greece, where he has deep roots to this day. His journey led him to New Hampshire in 1974, where he would open Corey Square Pizza in Manchester, NH. This establishment became a beloved local landmark under his ownership until 1989, reflecting his passion for sharing his culinary heritage.
JT's life was marked by a profound dedication to his family and his work. He was a Merchant Marine for 20 years, serving as an engineer with a commitment that spoke to his enduring strength and resilience. After his tenure at sea, JT continued to nurture his community first opening Corey Square Pizza and then by joining Metropolis Property Management Group and Acropolis Property Maintenance, where he served as the Director of Maintenance until his retirement. JT was always a skilled and passionate worker who understood the value of hard work.
Beyond his professional endeavors, JT was a man of deep faith and community involvement. He was a devout parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a communicant of St. Phillips Church in Nashua. His spiritual life was a cornerstone of his existence, providing strength and comfort throughout his life. JT also relished the joys of Greek cuisine and music, passions that he loved sharing with his extensive family during cherished gatherings, reinforcing the bonds of love and tradition that were central to his life. Above all else, JT loved his family immensely, and he will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
JT leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Sidora Tavoularis, and a family that adored him: daughters Alexia Van Etten and Demetria Anagnost and her husband Dick, and; six grandchildren, Alexander, Konstantino, Stavros, Sidora, Demetri, and Ariana; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Zoi, and Elias; and son-in-law Foti Christodoulou. He was predeceased by son Thomas Pappas and daughter Angeline Christodoulou.
Calling hours for JT will be held on Tuesday May 7th from 5-7pm with Trisagion at 5:00pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 243 Hanover St. Manchester NH. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, May 8th at 10am at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester, NH. He will be laid to rest immediately afterwards at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
