Valerie Helen (Giatas) Leone DeMagistris, 76, passed on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua after battling, and beating, many illnesses throughout the years. She was born on May 3, 1948 in Somerville, MA, daughter of the late Constantine and Viola (Ligouris) Giatas.
She was the wife of the late Raffaele Leone DeMagistris who passed in 2018. They were married on October 4, 1970.
Valerie was raised and educated in Burlington, MA. She worked as a hairdresser for a brief period, and then in accounts payable for several different places over the years. She and her husband moved to Nashua in 1971.
She was very active at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church in the 80’s and 90’s. She was also an amazing cook, and above all enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Cape Cod.
Along with her parents, Constantine and Viola, and husband, Raffaele, she was predeceased by her son, Johnny DeMagistris.
She is survived by her son, Dean DeMagistris; daughter, Krista DeMagistris; step-son, Drew Margulis and wife Sharilyn; step-granddaughter, Abigail; sister, Anna Moccaldi and husband Peter; brother, Arthur Giatas and wife Sofia; sister-in-law, Marie Spada and husband Renzo; brother-in-law, Tony DiNapoli; her beloved dog, Bosco; as well as many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 11am, at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W Hollis Street in Nashua. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Flowers may be sent directly to the church for service.
