Manchester – Vasileke "Bessie" Marquis, 86, died August 9, 2014 at Villa Crest in Manchester.
She was born on July 31, 1928 in Manchester, NH the daughter of the late John and Maria (Xyla) Ziakas.
She worked at MKM in Manchester for years.
Bessie was a very active volunteer with the Manchester Historical Association and Southern NH Services. She was a 2005 Presidential Call to Service Award recipient.
Surviving family members include her 3 children, Alfred Wall and his wife Diane (Provencher) Wall of Manchester, NH, James F. Wall and his wife Louise (Amirault) Wall of Manchester and Beth Ziakas and her fiancé, Sunna Pitre of Northwood, NH, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and her siblings, Louie Ziakas, Niki Mouratidis Pauline Eklund.
Bessie was predeceased by her husband, William J. Marquis.
Her Memorial gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St, Manchester, on Friday from 10AM to 12PM with a service at 11AM. Private interment will be at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bessie's memory can be made to Villa Crest Recreation Department, 1276 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
