VERNON A. BAHR
FRANCONIA, NH Vernon A. Bahr passed away at the age of 76, on March 27, 2006, at his home in Franconia.
Born in Kimball, Nebraska on May 25, 1929, Vernon was the son of John Otto Bahr and Lena (Derman) Bahr, and the brother of Franklin A. Bahr (deceased) and John W. Bahr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amy (Weadock) Bahr, as well as his three daughters, Tania Bahr-Torline, Laura Truesdell and Phoebe Warmack; his five grandchildren, Julia and Travis Torline, Avery and Jackson Warmack and Tyler Truesdell.
Vernon Bahr graduated from the University of Idaho in 1951 where he was Student Body President and a member of Air Force ROTC. An outstanding athlete, he was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer, golfer and skier. He served two years as a military supply officer stationed in Libya and Iran. Vernon graduated from Harvard Business School in 1955 with Honors. Following his graduation, Vernon achieved his instrument rated pilots license.
Vernon began his career as an entrepreneur in Venture Capital. His career included over 30 years as a Business Consultant in the travel industry; he consulted for Heritage Travel, Garber Travel, Thomas Cooke and American Express Travel. Vernons foremost contribution to the industry was the evolution of airline ticketing from carbon copy itineraries to boarding passes.
He will be remembered for his love of his family and his home.
SERVICES -- A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia in May, 2006.
