Viola ''Vi'' Sideris, 88, formerly of Breton Avenue, Manchester, died June 18, 2002, at Pearl Manor in Manchester. She was born in Manchester on January 25, 1914, the daughter of the late James and Anastasia (Karamelis) Sideris and had been a resident of Manchester for most of her life. Vi worked for the City of Manchester-Welfare Dept., until joining the US Army, Women's A Corp. (WAC) in 1942. She served two tours of active duty during WW II and the Korean Conflict retiring as First Lieutenant and retired from the Reserves as Major. Ms. Sideris worked many years for the Manchester Federal Savings and Loan Bank and was very active in volunteering her time at the Veteran Medical Center. Family members include two sisters, Joan Sideris and Olga Armen, both of Manchester, a nephew Dr. Chris Armen of Lebanon, NH, a niece, Diana Cowles of Lincoln, Ma.,several grand nephews and nieces. SERVICES: A calling hour is at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Friday morning from 9 to 10 o'clock with the funeral services immediately following at 10 o'clock in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the Reverend Michael Kouremetis officiating.
