VIOLET I. DOBENS
MANCHESTER - Violet I.(Laflamme) Dobens, 97 of Manchester NH, passed away Monday, February 11th, 2013 at Bedford Falls Assisted Living in Bedford, NH.
A daughter of Alfred and Emma Laflamme she was born in Nashua on July 31st, 1915. Violet was married for 51 years to Matthew J. Dobens who passed away on February 16th, 1988.
She was also predeceased by her son Richard R. Dobens, and brothers Andrew, Arthur and Leo Laflamme.
Violet leaves a sister Claire R. Laflamme of Nashua and sister-in-law Marjorie Laflamme of FL along with 2 remaining children, 5 grand-children, 4 great-grand children and many nieces and nephews.
Her son, Andrew L. Dobens of Manchester, and his children, Kelly A. Dobens of Manchester, Erick Matthew Dobens of MA and Patrick S. Dobens of NY.
Her daughter Irene J.(Dobens) Gillis of Mason, and her children Bob McKeever and his 4 four children of NJ and Colleen J. Gillis-Standley of Mason.
Violet graduated from Nashua High in 1934, worked for F.W. Woolworth for many years, and was a scorekeeper for the Manchester South Little League for 16 plus years with husband Matthew as Manager.
The "Matty Dobens Tournament" is held in Manchester every year in July.
Vi enjoyed bird watching, crocheting, was an avid vegetable gardener and very proud of her tomatoes, and was a serious Red Sox fan. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she enjoyed vacationing with them in Hampton beach, Florida and Hawaii.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bedford Falls Assisted Living & VNA Hospice of Manchester & SNH, for their compassion, care and love. They have all gone above and beyond with the excellent care they gave her.
SERVICES: Per her wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 18, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St Anthony of Padua Parish 172 Belmont St Manchester, NH 03103.
