Virginia Arcand, 77, of Manchester died November 14, 2006 at Boston Medical Center following a brief illness. Virginia was born on March 31, 1929 in Laconia the daughter of Joseph and Corinne (Valliere) Marchand. She grew up in Laconia and graduated from Laconia Business School. She met and married Leo Arcand and the couple moved to Toronto, Canada where she began working as a teacher for the Canadian School District. They relocated to Quebec City and Virginia continued her career as an English and Business teacher where she educated adults. In retirement, Leo and Virginia moved to Manchester. She was a spiritual woman and avid reader of spiritual literature. She was committed to her faith and was involved in many church activities in Canada. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Manchester. Virginia was predeceased by her husband on December 31, 2000. Family members include; three sisters, Yvonne Fitts of Sanbornton, Edna Swank of Bedford and Alice Durette of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Mass on Monday, November 20th at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, 291 Union Street. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick Church, 138 Coolidge Avenue, Manchester, NH 03102. Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium is in charge of arrangements.
