Virginia T. Campbell, 89, of W. Brattleboro, VT passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at her residence in W. Brattleboro. She was born in Hinsdale, NH on July 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Harold L. and Louise (Barrett) Torrey.

Virginia was a lifelong W. Brattleboro resident. She attended the local school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, class of 1941. Virginia was employed as a secretary for Dr. Walker in Brattleboro for many years. She then went on to work in the daycare center at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital until her retirement at the age of 72. She enjoyed, flowers, gardening, cats, nature, memories of her trip to England and France, looking through travel books, classical music, spending time on the water, and sailing. She was a member of the sailing club in Whitingham, VT.

She is predeceased by her husband, Colin Campbell in 1970 and a sister, Barbara Fanning in 2001.

Virginia is survived by a son, Torrey C. Campbell of East Sandwich, MA; a daughter, Susan Campbell-Bonnett and her husband Jim of Brattleboro; a brother, Richard Torrey and his wife Dora of Bennington, VT; a granddaughter, Ashley Bonnett of Brattleboro; dear friends, Stephan Buckley of Sandwich, MA and Josephine Lea of Brattleboro; as well as a few nieces, nephews and cousins.

All services are private. The Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High Street, Brattleboro is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia's name to the Windham County Humane Society, 916 W. River Road, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
