Virginia Robinson Chabot, 100, of Manchester, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 29th with family by her side.
Ginny was born in Manchester, NH on April 8, 1922 to late Florence and Harry Robinson where she grew up with her two sisters June (Craven) and Ollie (Langlois). She attended the Manchester school system where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Chabot at Central High School.
Ginny and Bob were married 75 years ago at Grace Episcopal Church, June 15, 1946, two weeks after Bob graduated from West Point. Bob served his country in the Army for fifteen years and Ginny was right by his side as they were stationed in Germany, Georgia, Maine, and Vermont. During their travels, Ginny stayed at home to raise and care for their two children, Linda and Bruce.
In 1961, they returned to their hometown, Manchester where Ginny continued to raise their children, Linda and Bruce, and supported Bob as a teacher and football coach at the new Memorial High School. In the early 1970’s, Ginny returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant at Central High School.
Ginny retired as Central High School administrative assistant so that she and Bob could travel more and continue their community work in Manchester. Ginny and Bob always side by side, were volunteers at the Elliot Hospital where they enjoyed their time making sure all they interacted with were comfortable, well taken care of and had their needs met during their short stays. Ginny enjoyed her walks at the mall in the winter, putting in those miles once around the mall hugging that wall to get each step in. She was a member of the Women’s Country Club in Bedford, attending the monthly meetings and is a life-long member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Ginny recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her daughter Linda and son Bruce, their families including six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends at the Puritan Restaurant. Ginny was in her element that day, enjoying the moment.
She is predeceased by her husband Bob, with whom she was married for 75 years, her sisters June (Bob) Craven and Ollie (Alfred) Langlois and her parents.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Linda Chabot Bruen and Michael Bruen of Sammamish, WA, her son Bruce Chabot and Gail Chabot of Allenstown, NH; six grandchildren, Jason Bruen and his wife Uma (Whitehouse, NJ), Jaclyn Bruen (Chicago, IL), Sean Bruen (Sammamish, WA), Katrina Bruen Durkin (Seattle, WA), Robert Chabot and James Chabot (Allenstown, NH); four great-granchildren, Neela and Mira (Whitehouse, NJ) and Killian and Brennan (Seattle, WA); and several nieces and nephews.
