Virginia "Ginger" A. Gordon, 78, lifelong resident of Brattleboro, VT passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. She was born in Brattleboro on September 24, 1935, the daughter of the late Everett and Elizabeth (Pratt) Bristol.

Ginger was educated in the Brattleboro school system, graduating from Brattleboro High School, Class of 1954. She worked in child care all her life; Ginger ran her own daycare for 30 years and also worked at the B.U.H.S. Daycare at its beginning, providing love for the children in her care and gentle support for their families. Ginger enjoyed knitting, sewing, and making crafts of any type, and often donated them to local charity functions. She and her husband "Skip" also made "cool ties" for the military and she was an active member of the Yellow Ribbon Group while her son was serving in Iraq. She was very well known for her peanut butter cookies and enjoyed baking treats for everyone. She never missed a family function, recital, play or event. Ginger will best be remembered as a dedicated caregiver to all, from her younger brothers to her own children and grandchildren to the children at the daycare, friends and neighbors and her beloved husband of 56 years, Skip.

She is survived by her husband, Richard I. "Skip" Gordon of Brattleboro; a son, Timothy Gordon and his wife Laurie; four daughters, Brenda Gilbert and her husband Peter, Linda Gordon and her husband Bruce, Andrea and Brett Viray, and Lisa Taylor and her husband Douglas; six grandchildren, Hollis and Colin Viray, Gregory and Alicia Taylor, and Paige and Ian Fenn; eleven brothers, George Bristol and his wife Janice, Verne Bristol and his wife Mary, Merlin Bristol, Neil Bristol and his wife Joyce, Charles Bristol and his wife Corrine, Donald Bristol and his wife Jeanne, Dean Bristol and his wife Frances, and Stewart Bristol and his wife Linda; and five sisters, Barbara Harris, Brittany Oliver, Esther Lamb, and Betty Wellman and her husband Arthur; Ginger leaves many dear friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is predeceased by four siblings; Edwin, Irving, Robert, and Margery Bristol.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will take place Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Centre Church, 193 Main Street Brattleboro. There will be a private burial in the spring. KER-WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High St., Brattleboro, has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made to Autism Speaks at www.autismspeaks.org, or Windham Childcare Association, 130 Birge St., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
