Virginia M. (Tibbetts) Knoetig, 69, of Manchester, died July 21, 2006 at the Elliot Hospital. She was born in Manchester on June 7, 1937, the daughter of Clifton and Thelma (Dicey) Tibbetts and had been a lifelong resident of the city. She had worked at the Elliot Hospital for 27 years until her retirement, ending her career as an operating room technician. She loved to bake, quilt, and read. She was passionate about spending time with her family. She was the widow of Walter E. Knoetig who died in 1995. Family members include two sons, Michael Knoetig and Gregory Knoetig, both of Manchester; two daughters, Cheryl Gagnon and Kimberley Landeck, both of Manchester; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers, Edward Moran of CT and Clifton Tibbetts of FL; four sisters, Jean Phelps of FL, Joanne Phelps of Danbury, Mary Oliver of Hollis and Mildred Cavis of Danbury; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Calling hours will be at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday morning at 10:00 with urn burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
