Walter E. Gahm passed away on Saturday October 12, 2024, at Littleton Regional Hospital, in Littleton, NH with his wife by his side. He was born in Boston, MA on July 28, 1942, to the late Joseph H. and Margaret E. (McCarthy) Gahm.

He grew up in Arlington and Billerica, MA. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He then spent the majority of his adult life before retiring in the automotive business in sales and management.

He settled with his wife, Nancy, in Whitefield, NH after living in MA and NH. He never lost his love of boats and Lake Winnipesaukee. He was a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, being a member of the NRA and Alderbrook Sportsmen's Association in Bethlehem, NH, where he and Nancy practiced target shooting. He also had a wide collection of model trains set up at his home in Whitefield. He was a member of the Dalton Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club of Dalton, NH.

Walter is survived by his wife, Nancy, son, Greg and his wife, Roberta of Georgia, daughter, Joanne Cartwright and her husband, Bill of Ohio, granddaughters, Caitlin Johnson and her husband, Charlie of West Virginia, and Cassidy Brown of Australia, and his grandson, Charles Cartwright and wife, Lucky of Ohio. He was blessed with great grandsons, Augustus ‘Augie’ Charlie Johnson of West Virginia, and Idrees Charles Cartwright of Ohio. He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Dorothy Gahm of NH, his brother-in-law, Michael Harmon and his wife, Karen of Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews throughout the country.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, his two sisters and two brothers, and his daughter, Eileen Brown.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home of Littleton, NH.

At this time there will be no formal scheduled services. The family will hold a celebration of Walter’s life in the spring of 2025.
