WALTER W. MORTON, SR.
LITTLETON, NH -- WWII Veteran Walter W Morton Sr., 92, died peacefully at St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation after a short battle with cancer, on April 29, 2018.
Walter was born in Gilman, VT on June 30, 1925, a son to William W. and Annie (Pascal) Morton. Walter served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1944 as a Seaman First Class. He belonged to the VFW, the American Legion, and The Eagles Club where he was trustee for many years. He loved spending all his spare time in his woodworking shop making just about everything. He worked as a Shipping and Receiving Foreman at Henschel Shoe until his retirement.
Walter leaves behind 5 children: Donna Ash of Littleton NH, Theresa Abbott of Methuen MA, Penny Vancoppenolle of Lawrence MA, Larry Morton of Newton NH, and Daniel Morton of Methuen MA; daughters-in-laws Mary and Barbara; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth, his father and mother, 3 sisters and 2 sons, Walter Jr. and Terry Morton.
SERVICES â A funeral service will be held at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home, located at 101 Union Street in Littleton, NH on May 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lyn Winter officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery immediately following the service, with a gathering at the Eagles Club after the burial.
