Waltraud "Wally" (VonMagel) Mitchell, 86, of Grafton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Bedford Hills Center.
Born in Giessen, Germany, she is the daughter of the late Heinrich Magel and Lina Elisabeth (Market) Magel. Raised and educated in World War II Germany, Wally and her family survived grave trials and tribulations. In 1956, Wally met and married Arnold Mitchell while he was stationed in Germany. During Arnold's military career, Wally and their growing family lived around the world including, Germany, Hawaii, and Rhode Island. Following Arnold's retirement, the family settled in Arnold's hometown, Grafton, NH.
A loving wife, mother, oma, sister, aunt, and friend, Wally's family was paramount in her life. She loved to visit yard sales and flea markets in search of hidden treasures. Wally will be best remembered for her vivacious spirit.
Wally is survived by her husband, Arnold V. Mitchell, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage; two sons, Ronald Mitchel and significant other, Judy of Manchester, and Richard Mitchell and wife, Dawn of Wilton; two daughters, Carol Richards and husband, Bob of New Boston, and Tanya Mitchell of Raymond; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Irmgard Gandola of Germany; two brothers, Hienz Magel and Ralph Magel, both of Germany; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Wally was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Polak.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Friday, November 23 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 7:00P.M.
