Warren C. Hamill, 77, of 519 Bridge Street, died April 12, 2001, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home. He was born in Rock Island, Illinois on December 9, 1923, the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Schmale) Hamill and had been a resident of Manchester since 1956. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran. Mr. Hamill served on the faculty of St. Anselm College in the Department of Philosophy for 30 years and retired as Professor Emeritus. He also taught at the University of Dayton, Fordham University and at Creighton University where he was Associate Dean of the business school. Additionally, he held positions in industry with the American Can Company and the Monsanto Research Corp., in the area of Management Education. Furthermore, he consulted with the Union Pacific Railroad. Warren earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Saint Ambrose College in 1950, a Master of Arts degree from Boston College in 1951 and completed his Doctoral studies in Philosophy at the University of Toronto. Mr. Hamill initially joined the faculty of Saint Anselm in 1954 and retired in 1989. Always a popular teacher, he was known for his carefully prepared lectures, clarity of teaching and gentle demeanor. At the college he specialized in the areas of Ethics, Philosophical Issues in Management and Philosophy of Law. Furthermore, he authored a book entitled ''A Citizen Organization: A Philosophy of Management''. The tremendous joys in his life were his faith and his family. Family members include his wife of 45 years Juliette C. (Favreau) Hamill of Manchester, two sons, Warren G. Hamill of Austin, Texas and Gary C. Hamill of Mountain View, California, two daughters Theresa McKenney of Eliot, Maine and Catherine Mary Burge of Greenville, South Carolina, his predeceased son, Douglas Hamill, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother Robert Hamill of Lavina, Montana, a sister, Ethel Mae Patterson of Matthews, North Carolina, several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: Calling hours are at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, Saturday evening from 4 to 7 O'Clock. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:30 in St. Anselm Abbey Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
