WAYNE RUSSELL BLODGETT
LITTLETON, NH -- Wayne Russell Blodgett, 77, of Colonial Court, passed into eternal life on January 15th at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Wayne was one of seven children born to Howard and Gladys (Rollins) Blodgett on June 24, 1927 in Franconia, NH. He was a graduate of Dow Academy in Franconia.
As a young man he worked in the field of carpentry with his father, Howard. Wayne served with the U.S. Army as an Honor Guard at the Nuremberg Trials in Germany following World War II. He was a former member of the Littleton VFW Howard Shawney Post #816. He was an avid skier, and as a young man worked as a ski instructor at Cannon Mountain under Paul Valar. He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and hiking in the White Mountains. He was employed as a compositor with the Littleton Courier until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Blodgett was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for nine years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris (Choate) Blodgett of Littleton, NH; four sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Sandra of Meriden, CT, Jonathan and his wife, Melinda of Lebanon, Mark and his wife, Penelope of Littleton, and Daniel and his wife, Nikki of Concord; four brothers, Raymond and his wife, Priscilla of Rochester, Robert and his wife, Frankie, William and his wife, Marge both of Landaff, NH, and John and his wife, Mary of West Burke, VT; two sisters, Jane Buchanan and her husband, Murdoch of Gray, ME, and Janice Drew and her husband, Richard of Hamilton, GA; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
SERVICES -- The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, January 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home, 101 Union Street, Littleton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Littleton at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Barbara Thrall officiating. A gathering will be held in the church hall immediately following the service.
