WELLINGTON B. FAIRWEATHER
WHITEFIELD, NH Wellington B. Fairweather, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, September 2nd at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Bill was born on October 14, 1909, a son to Wellington B. and Sophie G. (Rossiter) Fairweather in Roxbury, MA. He graduated from Dorchester High School, Boston State Teachers College, and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Boston University.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy, mostly Pacific Duty, during World War II. He remained active in the Naval Reserve until retirement in 1965 as a Commander. He taught in the Boston Public School System for thirty years and spent the last 10 years of his career as Education Specialist on the Staff of the Atlantic Fleet Training Command.
Will assisted his wife, Mary, in owning and operating The Fairweather Shop in Whitefield for 27 years. During 26 of those years, Bill and Mary travelled extensively, spending winters in Crescent Beach and Mexico Beach, FL; Kona, Hawaii, The Algarve in Portugal; Sierra Vista, Arizona, and visiting relative and friends.
Surviving family members include his three sons, Wellington B. Fairweather of Newton, MA, Samuel Rossiter Fairweather of Whitefield, NH, and Lt. John Sledge Fairweather, USN of Suffolk, VA; and a niece, Elaine Fairweather of Fairfax, VA.
SERVICES A Graveside service will be held for Wellington and Mary fairweather on September 17, 2008 in the Park Street Cemetery in Whitefield, NH at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Carlton Schaller officiating.
