WENDELL (LOU) RICHARD LUCAS
LITTLETON, NH -- Wendell (Lou) Richard Lucas, 86, of Littleton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday June 12, 2016 at his home of 52 years.
Lou was born in Littleton to Gertrude (Hartigan) and Carroll Lucas on July 29, 1929. Lou lived and worked all his life in Littleton, from Norton Pike to 46 years with the Littleton School District. He also spent 17 years in the National Guard, retiring with the rank of Captain. He married the love of his life Laura Corey on May 5, 1950 and together they bought a home and made their life in Littleton. They had a son, Carroll, who was born in November of 1968. Lou was very proud of his son and loved his little family very much.
Lou was known as a quiet, kind man, always so polite, who could do and fix anything he set his mind to. He loved to do carpentry, build model cars and rockets, do puzzles, gardening, watching the Red Sox with his best friend Karen and spending time with his son and family. Lou was president of the Little League baseball organization in Littleton in the late 70's and early 80's when his son Carroll played. Carroll proudly followed in his father's footsteps and became president of the Babe Ruth baseball when Lou's grandson Stephen played.
Lou was predeceased by his wife, Laura, of 42 years on January 8, 1992, his parents Gertrude and Carroll, his brother Donald and his sister Carlene.
Lou is survived by his loving son Carroll, wife Kristen, grandchildren Laura Malerie and Stephen Wendell. Also surviving him is his best friend of many years, Karen Tunney-Spaulding, as well as several nephews, nieces and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, tribute/memorial donations may be made in Lou's name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
SERVICES -- Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 23rd at The Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home from 5:30-7:00 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday, June 24th at the Methodist Church in Littleton at 2:00 p.m. A committal service will immediately follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, with a reception at Harris Energy Inc. on West Main St.
