Wesley T. Collins of Washington, NH passed away in the early morning of April 26, 2021, after a short (3 week) battle of pneumonia and subsequent complications at the age of 60. He was born to the late Nicholas Herman Collins and Elaine Bemis Collins of Brattleboro, Vermont. He lost his sister - Wendy Enslor Collins - in 1977.
Wes is a graduate of Norwich University, class of 1983. While at Norwich, Wes was a member of the Men's Rugby Team, Norwich Marching Band, and the Pegasus theater group. Following the completion of college, Wes became a Commissioned Officer in the US Air Force. He served honorably for 22 years and retired as a Major in 2005 after tours at several air bases in the United States, Germany, England, and the US Embassy in Canada. Wes also earned a graduate degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota in 1987.
As an Army brat, Wes also traveled the country and world with his family. Wes met the love of his life, Susan, in his second year at Norwich (her first semester) on his 20th birthday. Falling very much in love, they were engaged within a year. They married a week after Wes graduated from Norwich and spent a joyous 38 years of marriage together.
Wes volunteered his time as well - serving as a National Ski Patroller, Boy Scout and leader - earning the distinguished level of Eagle Scout - and Girl Scouts of America in Europe on local base committees. He enjoyed playing rugby in his early years, playing music, "using his hands" to build, fixing and creating various DIY projects. His most recent joys were visiting with his three new grandbabies and making little wooden toys for them.
He is survived by his wife, Susan R. Collins; two daughters, Caitlin (Joshua) Chastain and their daughters Imogen Wendy and Maeve Alexandra, Alexandra (Andrew) Collins Gambarani and their son Clark Taylor Collins Gambarani; an aunt, Ellen Brouillette; his "second mother" and dear family friend, Virginia Burleson, and many other family, cousins, and friends.
