Wilfred G. Greenia, 87 of Hinsdale, NH passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester, after an extended illness. He was born in Swanton, VT on December 4, 1928; the son of the late Harold and Roseanna Greenia.
Wilfred served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1956. He then married Esther in June of 1961 in Massena, NY and they relocated to VT. He was employed at Dewitt Beverage for 20 years until his retirement. He then worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter. Standing six feet tall and only 130lbs, Wilfred's nickname of "Chubby" brought numerous smiles to those he met. His gentle, caring personality will be remembered by his family and friends for years to come.
He is predeceased by a brother, James Greenia and a grandson, Brandon Greenia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther Greenia of Hinsdale, NH; two sons, Michael Greenia and his wife Debbie of Chesterfield, NH and Steven Greenia of Ashelot, NH; a brother, Rufus Greenia of Washington State; three granddaughters, Jaymee, Nicole, and Alexa Greenia; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 1PM to 2PM at the Brattleboro Eagles Club, 54 Chickering Dr., Brattleboro, VT. A Funeral Service will being at 2pm, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help assist the family to Esther Greenia c/o Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 High St., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
